Many of you reading this will know we have been involved in the discus fish hobby for over 40 years and breeding for 30 years, during that time of keeping and breeding them we have learnt that discus fish are actually not very hard to keep at all. If you follow a few simple guide lines you can easily have a spectacular tank full of beautifull healthy discus fish for years to come. (Breeding them successfully is not quite as easy )...
One of the simple guidelines for healthy Discus is to provide a fully balanced healthy diet that is as close to a natural diet as possible. Unfortunately this is missed in a lot of cases and keepers get frustrated with the constant problems and end up giving up on DIscus fish. They persist with cheap commercial dry foods and frozen food that contains beefheart ! How many fish can you name that eat red meat ?....im guessing not many..
We dont breed Discus any more due to circumstances, but when we first started out we soon realised that for healthy discus and spawns we needed a better food that was being offered, and hence how we ended up producing our own. This lead to us becoming very successfull over 40yrs at breeding and raising beautifull DIscus fish. We still supply many of our previous discus customers with our food and their fish love it. So when we stopped breeding we decided to keep on supplying the food so as not to let our current customers down and to also allow new Discus keepers to benefit from it.
